Conservation Report

Brian Martinez

Willoughby Civic League Conservation Committee is standing on the gains of prior year’s committees by continuing work on the Willoughby project list.  I will be out next month so our President will update the membership in November regarding efforts and status of projects to date.

We are working very closely with NRHA and various City departments to ensure that our list of 29 projects (and growing) is continually in the forefront of their budgetary and other resource considerations.  You will be provided a handout at the meeting that comprehensively provides the status of all projects.  Please contact me or any member of the committee if you have ideas or issues that you would like the committee to address.  Significant work will be accomplished in Willoughby over the next couple of years which will include traditional conservation measures (acquisitions, grants, etc) and capital improvement projects (4th View, repaving of W. Ocean View Ave, median landscaping, etc).

As we move into the new calendar year, your committee will be focusing on soliciting your ideas for new projects. As a reminder, feel free to contact any of this year’s committee members: Brian Martinez (Chair), Jan Palazzo, Don Musacchio, Jim McKee, Rita Stanley, Ed Batkins, Joel Hanssen, Shelly Barnes, John Saunders, Louis Eisenberg.
