The Willoughby Civic League meets the second Wednesday of every month except the month of July. 
The meetings are at 111 W Ocean View Av  upstairs in the Pretlow Library  The time is 7:00 pm

President's Message
November, 2008

I am writing this month's message as I sit in my car.  Don't worry, I can do this safely because I am in the very long line trying to get from West Ocean View Ave. through the 4th View intersection to my home.

The closing of a portion of WOV and the rerouting of traffic onto Mason Creek, then to Tidewater Drive and back to WOV seems like a good idea on paper.  However, as anybody who has lived in Willoughby for more than a week knows that tunnel backups and weather can throw the best plans out the window.  Councilman Williams and I met with city staff and representatives of the contractor and we impressed upon them the need to limit any disruptions and lane closures to those absolutely necessary and for the shortest time possible.

The civic League has been heavily involved in the design and planning of the 4th View sewer and utilities replacement as well as the final reconfigurations of the intersection.  Once completed, we will have a permanent dedicated lane through the intersection.  Hopefully, the final result will be worth the frustration.

The holiday season will soon be upon us, so please remember friends, family and those in harm's way in your thoughts and prayers.
